I believe choosing the right will help you get far. Choosing the right is just recognizing the good from the bad and always choosing the good over the bad. Stay away from temptations and focus on the important things. If you really want to accomplish something then you have to work hard for it never give up and always keep trying. You only deserve what you worked for. IF you do drugs and do bad in school then of course you'll have a bad future. On the other hand if you always do what you're supposed to you'll go far. Becoming Your Best
The 12 Principles of Highly Successful Leaders
1. Be true to character
In my opinion what this is saying is that to always be yourself. Don't change who you are just to impress somebody or because someone doesn't like you. If you are going to change yourself it's because you want to do, and be better. Don't be someone who you know you're not. Be yourself and honest. For example if you have an interview and they ask you a question like what are some of your special skills and you lie an say stuff that you don't really know how to do. Later they ask for help or assistance with something you said you knew how to do but in the end you end up looking foolish because you don't know what you are doing. Just be you and do what you have and know how to do and great things will come. Never lie to yourself if you know something is right speak up for it. Be true to yourself and about who you are.
"This above all; to thine own self be true."
- William Shakespeare
2. Use your imagination
"Use your imagination" since little I have been told to use your imagination, think out side the box, etc. As a kid I would mostly use my imagination when I want to entertain myself. I would play with toys and I would give them personalities, voices, names and powers I would have such a great time playing with them. I guess what they mean by "Use your imagination" is different from when I was a kid. In my opinion I think they're trying to say is imagine yourself doing great things. Imagine yourself being a great person. Imagine and then work for it. You have to start of with an idea and then plan for it an achieve it. Imagine some goals and how it would feel to accomplish them. Use that feeling to motivate you to do better and achieve goals. Imagine it and then accomplish it.
"Logic will get you from A to B. Imagination will take you everywhere."
- Albert Einstein
3. Apply the power of knowledge
This one is pretty self explanatory it's just saying apply what you know. Knowledge is a very powerful thing. Knowledge is the future. Knowledge is a great and powerful thing without most people wouldn't be where they are, knowledge will take you places. That's why people encourage others to go to school. Its to obtain knowledge to be successful. School is the best way to having a great future. School prepares you for adulthood and to be a great person. Having knowledge is power.. Graduate school obtain knowledge and be successful.
"Knowledge is power. Information is liberating. Education is the premise of progress, in every society, in every family."
-Kofi Annan
4. Never give up
Never give up is something I've heard since a little kid. "Never give up" I feel is used too often, I feel people don't really get the point even though it's really simple. Never give up just means to never give up. No matter how hard things may seem or be always keep on trying. If you're trying to reach a fruit but you fallen 6 times from the tree then you get up 7 times and try again. It doesn't how long it takes or how many times just try. Were there's a will there's away. You get what you want by just sitting there and waiting for it happen. You have to work hard for great things. You only deserve what you worked for. It wont come naturally or magically. To reach your goals You have to work hard for them and try and try and try until you've accomplished it. Never give up on the things that really matter.
"Never give up. Today is hard, tomorrow will be worse, but the day after tomorrow will be sunshine"
- Jack Ma
5. Find peace and balance
This principle is also pretty self explanatory, it's not hard to understand. Find peace is to stay calm and relax at times. Maybe you've had a long day at work or at school and your stressed out, when you get home you need to relax and stop worrying about all your problems for a moment. If you're at peace then your pretty much happy. To find balance i think means to do both. For example try accomplishing your goals little by little don't push your self all the way to the limit because then the next day you won't have any energy and you might just give up on whats really important. Find in a balance don't do too much at once and don't do to little. Accomplish your goals and have fun. Find peace and balance to stay happy and healthier in life. If you think it, you can do it. Find peace and balance at work, school, at home, everyday any time any place.
"Life is like riding a bicycle. To keep your balance, you must keep moving."
-Albert Einstein
6. Live the Golden rule
For those of you who don't know the golden rule it is treat others the way you want to be treated. This rule most of us should know but not most of us follow it. To be successful doesn't mean you get to be rude or a jerk. Always be kind to people. Treat people that way you would want to be treated. If you want to respected and people to be kind to you, then you should do the same to others. If you're mean and rude then people will do the same to you. This rule is very simple yet a lot of us tend to not comply. We get carried away or we forget about others feeling's that we treat people bad. Being successful isn't great but being successful and generous is. Help others and others will help you. If you're kind people will be kind to you and many positive things will happen. On the other hand if you're mean people will do the same with you and you wont get such good results. What goes around comes around. Treat people the way you want to be treated and you'll be successful and great things will come your way.
"Throughout life people will make you mad, disrespect you and treat you bad. Let God deal with the things they do, cause hate in your heart will consume you too."
-Will Smith
7. Build and maintain trust
This one is pretty self explanatory it's just to get people to trust and never turn on them. You have to earn somebodies trust. You just don't ask for it and expect to happen. Trust is something very strong. Since a person trust is so crucial that's why you you have to be a good friend and maintain that trust. As you get older you'll start working with other and you guys have to have a good connection and trust. If you trust someone make sure they trust you. Be careful of those who you trust because it may later affect you. Trust is the key to good relationships between other people.
"Trust is the glue of life. It's the most essential ingredient in effective communication. It's the foundational principle that holds all relationships."
-Stephen Covey
8. Quick to listen slow to wrath
This one is a bit more complicated. Wrath means to to be extremely angry. In other words what I think this is trying to say is be fast to listen first and then get angry. Some of us tend to get angry without even having a good reason or knowing why or how. Always listen I honestly don't see how this is effective but i don't really get it. Always pay attention be cautious of those around you. Some people are trying to bring you down while others are supporting you be aware of that. Understand whats going on first. Knowledge is true power.
"No behavior on our part is more self-centered than the demand to speak and the refusal to listen.”
― Robert E. Fisher
9. Lead with vision
Lead with vision I think is pretty tricky to break down. I think it means to work hard towards the goal you have in mind. Predict what's going to happen and what you have to do. Always be a few steps ahead. Take initiative and always thing ahead of time. Be prepared for everything. Visualize what you are going to accomplish. Always have a MOTIVATION and let that be the fire that guides you to success. Always be cautious as well you have to be ready just in case. Work towards your goals with a motive in mind.
10. Managing with a plan
Managing with a plan to me sounds pretty self explanatory. It's in a way relatable to lead with vision. Its saying that if you are going to lead or work towards something you should always have a plan. You have start of somewhere you can't just jump into things. You need a foundation. Think ahead of time be prepared know when, how, why, or what to do. Your plan is like your gps, it will guide to you what you accomplish. Take the time to plan things out it'll make it easier. If you don't have a plan then you will get last. Mange with a plan, know what you want to accomplish and think are you going to work towards it.
12. Be accountable
To be accountable means to be a person required or expected to justify actions or decisions; responsible. This basically means that you have to own up to your actions. You have to be in control. People should be able to rely on you. That builds character and trust. You have to take control. You only deserve what you worked for. Nothing in this world is given for no reason. Be accountable you are to blame for your success and failures. If you slack off then its on you just learn from mistakes and try to improve. Always do better.
"Understand, our police officers put their lives on the line for us every single day. They've got a tough job to do to maintain public safety and hold accountable those who break the law."

This principle is very easy and self explanatory. It's just saying to do what's important. I strongly support this but not all the way. Yes it's good to have your focus on one thing but then you start to forget other things. Always put first things first and then have time for the rest. For example always do your best in school and focus but also have time for friends, family, girlfriend, and your self. If not then eventually you'll get tired and loose motivation. Do the things the matter most not just one thing but everything that matters. Have motivation, dedication, and determination. Accomplish your goals and have time for other important things.

"Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven't found it yet, keep looking. Don't settle. As with all matters of the heart, you'll know when you find it."
-Steve Jobs
