7 Habits of Highly Affected People

Habit 1:

Habit 1: Be Proactive

"Habit 1 is key to unlocking all the other habits and that's why it comes first. It says, "I am the captain of my life. I can choose my attitude. I'm responsible for my own happiness or unhappiness. I am in the driver's seat of my destiny, not just a passenger."

I think this thing is pretty self explanatory. You have to know what you want in order to achieve it. You have to go get it. Work hard for it don't wait for it. What you earned is what you worked for. You have to take control. Do and accomplish. Keep on working hard. Never give up because you may never how close you are to achieving what you want. If you want to win you have to work harder than the rest. Always put in 110% and keep trying. Work towards what you wan that is the only way of getting it. Don't be scared of taking chances.

"I like to encourage people to realize that any action is a good action if it's proactive and there is positive intent behind it."
- Michael J. Fox

Habit 2: Begin with the end in mind

"Control your own destiny or someone else will."

I think this means to start off think with a positive outcome. Be confident in yourself. Think of the good instead of the bad. You should  be able to control the outcome of things. Don't let others tell you you're doing wrong if you know your doing the right thing. You should have an idea of where you want end up in the future and work towards it. If you don't know you want how can you start achieving goals. For example if you have a match or game you should be positive and think you're going to win. At least go hard and give it all you got. Then keep on working hard to achieve better.

"It is not in the stars to hold our destiny but in ourselves."
-William Shakespeare

Habit 3: Put First Things First

"Organize an execute around priorities"

Make sure you put the things that matter to you most as your priority. Always put them first. Others can wait. You have to make sure you keep on working towards them. Always know your goal is. If you don't have or know what your goals are then you will never be able accomplish anything. Put the important things first like for example school. When you get home do your homework and then you can start doing other things like watch tv, etc. Always your priorities first. Work towards them and accomplish them

"Effective leadership is putting first things first. Effective management is discipline, carrying it out."

Stephan Covey

Habit 4: Think Win-Win

"Think win-win or no deal"

I think this is really self explanatory. It's just saying if you're going to do something make sure you always accomplish it. If you're going to do something do it right. If not don't even bother to it. Always think you are going to do the best and end up accomplishing what you want. For example in a sport let's say you have a match or game always have the mindset of winning and if not at least try your best so that next time you can win. Failure is not an option. Always do better and try your best. Achieve for greater never be fine with where you are at.

"Music reality shows provide a platform to people who have talent and gives them visibility and exposure. It is a win-win situation for participants."

Shreya Ghoshal

Habit 5: Seek First to Understand then to be Understood

"Diagnose before you prescribe"

    To

Habit 6: Synergize
The whole is greater than the sum of its part (1+1=3)

Synergize is the habit of creative cooperation. It is teamwork, open-mindedness, and the adventure of finding new solutions to old problems. But it doesn't just happen on its own. It's a process, and through that process, people bring all their personal experience and expertise to the table. This means that you are stronger together than alone. For example with classwork if you work with your partners the work should be easier. You guys are helping each other and getting the work done faster.

Habit 7: Sharpen the Saw
Four Dimensions of Self-Renewal: Physical, Mental, Spiritual, Social/Emotional

I don't get what this is trying to say to be honest. It's a bit confusing. I think it means to be prepared. How can you cut wood if the saw isn't sharpened. In order to d something yo have to be prepared for it. For example if you have a test you have to study or really know the topic in order to do very well. Sharpen the saw before cutting the wood. Be prepared practice strategist before doing. You have to know what you want and work towards it in order to accomplish.

Reflection: The 7 habits of highly effective people I think are really good and are easy to apply. Anybody can do it and use it. These habits are very motivational and inspiring. Always out your goals first. Then later you'll have time for other stuff. You control your destiny be proactive and get things done. Always be prepared in ready to do your best. Always have positive attitude and do the best you can.

Three Fundamental Techniques in Handling People

Technique 1: Don't criticize, condemn or complain,

"If you want to gather honey, don't kick over the beehive."

I really like this technique. It makes a lot of sense and its self explanatory. If you want someones attention don't be rude and mean to them. Be kind. If you need something ask politely. Take in consideration the way they feel. Work towards if it's someone you like or someone important in school or job.

Technique 2: Give honest and sincere appreciation
"The big secret in dealing with people"

Honestly im having a hard time understanding this technique. I think it means to always be honest with people. Never be mean and say something rude. Try to find the nicest way to say and if you can't then help them fix it. Appreciate what they for you. Take in consideration their feelings. Be a good honest person. Always give assistance and feedback. Let them know that you care for them if you
really do.

"As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them."
- John F, Kennedy

Technique 3: Arouse in the other person an eager want.
"He who can do this has the whole world with him. He who cannot, walks a lonely way."

I don't get this at all. It's hard to understand. I think it means to be motivated by others. It can also mean to have a certain motivation. Have someone who supports you or will always be there for you. It can also mean to be interested in someone and talk to them. Get to know them.

Final Reflection:

In all honesty I didn't really like these techniques in dealing with people. These were pretty hard to make sense of except for the first one. I don't think these will really help me. Although, I do really like the message/concept of the first one. I think its true if you want something don't force it to come to you. Wait and work towards getting. You don't deserve anything. You only deserve the things you worked for. Don't rush or force something. Work towards them. Be kind, helpful, and polite. Don't be mean to them are an a hole to impress them be honest and sincere. I can apply this technique in every day life.

I had a really good winter break. During my break i spend a lot of time with my girlfriend. We went out to eat a lot. We went to Olive Gardens, Ruby's dinner, The Habbit burger grill, Wink Stop, Starbucks, and she came over to eat at my house a few times. We went to the theaters, to the mall, citadel, we spent Christmas and Christmas eve together. The only day i didn't see her was New Years eve which was pretty sad but i got to see her on New years. Also I was going to practice a lot and i went two 2 day tournaments. I did ok but could've done better next time. My girlfriend came to see me Sunday and we walked to and from practice together. I also went bowling and ice skating for my friends birthday.

How to Win Friends an Influence People

Six Ways to Make People Like You. If you want people to like you.......

Rule 1: Become genuinely interested in other people.
"Do this and you will be welcome anywhere."
"You can make more friends in two months by becoming interested in other people than you can in two years by trying to get other people interested in you."
"Ask questions to other people, questions that they would enjoy answering."

This rule is simple and straight forward its self explanatory. Be interested in other people. Get to know things about them. Ask questions about them and what they like. People don't like cocky people. The more you talk about yourself the more annoying it is. Keep a conversation going don't be boring and talk about things the other person wont like. Find things both of you guys have in common. Be interested in them not just yourself.

"We sometimes encounter people, even perfect strangers, who begin to interest us at first sight, somehow suddenly, all at once, before a word has been spoken."
Fyodor Dostoevsky

Rule 2: Smile
"Actions speak louder than words, and a smile says, "I like you. You make me happy. I am glad to see you."
"You don't feel like smiling? Then force yourself to smile."
"It creates happiness in the home, fosters good will in a business, and is the countersign of friends."

Reflection: I thank smile is a great way to greet people. A smile makes people happy and warm. A smile can say many positive things about. A smile will say many more about you than words. If you
were to see somebody with a mad serious face all the time you'd think he's mean or a jerk but he might actually be friendly but you don't know that. On the other hand if you somebody with a smile you'd feel warm and would want to approach them and feel like they are friendly. Honestly in my opinion if you don't want to smile then don't. I don't think you should be force to do something you don't want to. A smile can say many things about you. If you don't want to then don't. I like to smile but sometimes I have those days where I don't want to.

"Don't cry because it's over. Smile because it happened."
Dr. Seuss

Rule 3: Remember Names
"A man's name to him the is sweetest and most important sound in ant language."
"If you don't remember names, you are headed for trouble."

Remembering somebodies name is easy most of the time. There are times when you have a lot going on and haven't seen a person for a long time and just forget. Also when you've barely someone you have no interest in and don;t really care to bother to learn their name or get to know them. Although if you really want to meet people like a co-worker, classmate, someone who catches your attention. It's very important to remember their name. It's hard to forget a name so when you do it's kind of showing you don't care. They take it as an insult. On the other hand it's kind gesture to remember a name it shows you care.a name says a lot about a person. A name is also a way to remember a person.

"Each generation wants new symbols, new people, new names. They want to divorce themselves from their predecessors."
Jim Morrison

How to Remember Names

Easy way is to repeat an d repeat and keep on repeating a name. Repeat in your head and then repeat out loud.

Find the trigger

Find things to associate the person with to remember like hobbies or unique things about a person

Word Play

Get the first letter of his name and associated with something about him like Joe form Jersey

or just ask again

Rule 4: Be a good listener. Encourage others to talk about themselves.
"If you aspire to be a good conversationalist, be an attentive listener."
"Remember that the man you are talking to is a hundred times more interested in himself and his wants and his problems than he is in you and your problems."

People enjoy talking weather it's in school, through, the phone, or about any topic they like to talk. Mostly about themselves. If you want to get a good conversation you have to be a good listener A good way to meet new people is get to know them by asking about them. Get them talking about
things like or problems or just a background about them who they are, where their from, etc. Always greet new people with a smile. Eventually they'll start asking about you and give you a turn to talk so that they get to know you better. If they have a problem try to help them. Give them advice or feedback. Now if you're trying to talk to anybody be a great listener let them know you care and are interested. Always be respectful and kind. Be a good a listener and get them talking and eventually it'll be your turn to talk.

"A good listener is not only popular everywhere, but after a while, he knows something."

                                                                                                                                     - Wilson Minzer
5 active listening tips

1. Stay Focus
2. Really listen
3. Allow for periods of silence
4. From time to time repeat the words
5. Understand the emotions behind the words

Rule 5: Talk in terms of the other man's interest
"The royal road to a man's heart is to talk to him about the things he treasures most."

People will always have something in which they really love. Something in which they really care about.

Rule 6: Make the other person feel important--and do it sincerely.
"The desire to be important is the deepest urge in human nature. " (John Dewey) "Helping people feel important and appreciate works magic."

Always be kind and thoughtful to others. Make them feel special so that they will want to be your friend. Start good conversations about themselves let them talk first. At the same time show that you care about what they are saying. If they see that you care they'll open up with you more. That you guys will built a better bond. Appreciate their interest and everything else they do. Try to give feedback or comments here and there. Be a good listener. Talk about them first then it'll be your turn to talk and make them feel important.

"Friends can help each other. A true friend is someone who lets you have total freedom to be yourself - and especially to feel. Or, not feel. Whatever you happen to be feeling at the moment is fine with them. That's what real love amounts to - letting a person be what he really is."
- Jim Morrison

1. give compliments
2. praise them in front of other people
3. tell them you are proud of them
4. tell them how amazing they are
5. get them a gift
6. write them cute notes or messages
7. be interested in what they are saying
8. be respectful
9. help them out with anything
10. be interested in what they are saying
11. give them you time
12. If they don’t have a clear dream, recognize and acknowledge their skills and talents.
13. Ask them questions to help them uncover how they can leverage their strengths to make a difference in the world.
14. Encourage them to go for something they want but are scared to pursue.
15. Comfort them after a failure or misstep and let them know it isn’t representative of who they are or what they’re capable of.
16. Ask them to teach you how to do something to reinforce that this is something they excel at.
17. Offer to teach them something you know they’ve wanted to try, and let them know why you think they’d be good at this.
18. Give them something to help them get started on their dream—like a journal for an aspiring writer, or a design book for someone interested in fashion.
19. Tell them you want to be the first one to buy their product or service when they inevitably start making a living off their passion.
20. Give them a hand-made card and write inside what you see in them.
21. give them thanks for being there for you
22. hug
23. be polite
24 surprise them
25. remember important events or topics they tell you

Reflection: In my opinion these are pretty good ways for to get people to like you. I don't think they're that perfect though. Just be yourself and I do agree on letting them talk first. At the same time don't let them talk the whole time though. Then you'll get bored of them or they'll get bored of you. Always be respectful.

The Six Attitudes of High Achievers

John R. Noe

1. Make no small plans

I think make no small plans is a good attitude when it comes to achieving something. I think that what it means is set yourself up for something high or important. Don't aim for a small goal always aim higher. Push your self keep improving. For example lets say you were doing bad in school and then you set your self a goal to get straight B's and then later on you do. Don't stop there aim higher push yourself to the limit and then passing it aim for straight A's. The only way you are going to improve is if you keep pushing yourself keep trying harder and then even harder the next day. Aim for a high goal and once you achieve aim higher and set more goals. Set yourself for something big not small. Don't give up trying harder each time push yourself to achieve that high important goal.

An example would be like in exercising. Lets say you want to do one hand push ups well first you have to do lots of push ups workout each day to get stronger and once you've achieved it then set
your self to do hand stand push up

"  Make big plans; aim high in hope and work, remembering that a noble, logical diagram once recorded will not die, but long after we are gone be a living thing, asserting itself with ever-growing insistence."

2. Do what they fear

3. Are willing to prepare

4. Are willing to risk failure

High Achievers are willing to risk failure. They are willing to try and try and never give up either. The important part isn't that they failed the important part is they got back up and tried harder and harder. They push them selves to the limit and after the next day they surpass their limit and aim higher. They don't give up after a loss they keep trying and train until they win or achieve their goals. They set their selves for failure and eventually they'll be able to accomplish it
. They keep trying and that's what makes them achievers. If you loose learn from it don't take it as a loss take as a lesson and better next time. Learn from your mistakes. Keep trying and push yourself everyday to be better.

An example would be like in the gym and you're lifting you set your self for failure like max and then put even more until you cant go on and the next day you do the same until it doesn't become as hard and you keep on improving and adding more weight and get stronger.

" He who is not courageous enough to take risks will accomplish nothing in life."

5. Are teachable

High Achievers are TEACHABLE. This can mean many different things. It mainly means high achievers are always willing to learn from others, from the past, etc. They learn and keep on improving. They receive feedback from others to work on their mistakes. They try to always improve and fix their mistakes. They may not become perfect but they can try to be the best and push themselves each day. We all make mistakes but those who accept them and learn from them will improve. High achievers are teachable will improve from they have learned.

" I take inspiration from everyone and everything. I'm inspired by current champions, former champions, true competitors, people dedicated to their dream, hard workers, dreamers, believers, achievers. "

An example would be like in school. When you turn in an essay and you have mistakes and the teacher corrects you and then you end up fixing the mistakes and do it better and get a good grade.

6. Have heart

High achievers have heart. In my opinion i think that when they say high achievers have heart they mean they are caring people. Have heart means like be nice, happy, fun caring. If you have a heart that means your caring. Things people that have heart do are being helpful, kind, respectful. To have heart can also be like dedication. You can have dedication towards a sport or school. To have a heart you take in consideration of others feelings. Have a heart and care about others, yourself, and the things you love to do. Always have heart and do the right thing.

" Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven't found it yet, keep looking. Don't settle. As with all matters of the heart, you'll know when you
find it."
- Steve Jobs

You can apply this attitude with your friends at school or at home with family be caring and helpful, have heart.

Reflection

The six attitudes of high achievers are really inspiring and make you think a lot about yourself and the future. These attitudes are really motivational and makes you reflect a lot on your actions. Make no small plans is really good attitude that really tell you to set high goals and always do better. Another attitude I really liked is do what you fear because it's telling you to face your fears and overcome it. I also liked the one that high achievers are willing to risk failure this means they'll give at all the got do or die. Also that they'll keep on trying after a fail and push themselves. Each one of these attitudes are really good. You can learn a lot from these and it'll help you become a better person.

accountability

Accountability

I think the attribute accountability means to be responsible towards something and to try to do it at the best of your ability.

“As for the journey of life; at some point you will realize that YOU are the driver and you will drive!”
By: Steve Maraboli

I think this quote means at some point you will get older and will have more responsibilites or more things to be accounted for.

For example like when you get married and have a family for are accounted for to go to work to be able to pay bills put food on the table and take care of your family but when you're a kid you're not responsible for that your parents are.
