    Well obedient means to reason with others. I think this is saying the more you are willing to listen to others the more respect you'll earn. Respect is something that is just handed to you respect has to be something you earned. With respect people will think your responsible and that you'll make the right choices. If people think you're responsible then they'll give you more freedom they'll treat more mature. For example if you are obedient to your parents then they'll respect you more and they'll give you freedom like they'll give you your own space. They'll let you go out with friends, go buy things, even be in a relationship. The more respectful and listen to others people will respect you and treat with maturity. People will eventually let you make your own decisions but first you have to prove to them that your responsible enough. The more you listen to others and obedient you are, the more people will respect you and give you your freedom
